JOEL COLMENERO
Classical Ballet Teacher
Joel Colmenero is a former professional dancer and classical dance teacher. He trained as a teenager in schools in Barcelona, such as Company&Company and Studio Isadora.
In 2005, at the age of 15, he received a scholarship to attend the Summer Intensive at the American Ballet Theater in New York, repeating this experience in the same way in 2006. During his courses at the American Ballet, he had the opportunity to train with great dance personalities from the United States such as Cynthia Harvey, Nancy Raffa, Raymond Lukens, Franco Da Vita, and many more.
In 2007, she entered the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp, in Belgium, to attend her last conservatory year, graduating and specializing in classical dance, although working with different techniques such as contemporary dance, repertoire and step two. His teachers include Anatole Karpuhin, Jan Nuyts and choreographers such as Goyo Montero.
The following year, during a summer course at the Victor Ullate School in Madrid, he received an invitation to be part of the final improvement course, as well as being part of the young company with the same name. He worked with teachers like Victor Ullate, Ana Noya, among others. Before finishing the course, he obtained his first professional contract at the Corella Ballet company in Segovia, led by Ángel Corella, where he participated in the productions of “La Bayadera” and “El Lago de los Cisnes”.
He worked as a soloist dancer in the Vienna Festival Ballet company (London, United Kingdom) participating in a tour of "The Nutcracker" through many theaters in the country in addition to Dubai in the "Mall of the Emirates" theater._cc781905-5cde-3194- bb3b-136bad5cf58d_She then became part of the Ballet West of Scotland company dancing as a soloist in its production of “Swan Lake” by Daniel Job, touring the theaters of the Highlands of Scotland.
After several auditions, he receives the opportunity to be a solo dancer with the "Atlantic City Ballet" company located in New Jersey, where he can dance great works of the classical repertoire as well as new works created by the director Phyllis Papa such as Dracula, The Nutcracker, Dream of a summer night, Sleeping Beauty and creations such as “Come join the dance”, “Stars”, “Ballet goes Broadway” and a premiere at the great Taj Mahal Casino with “It's a shore holiday”.
After his stay in the United States he decides not to continue his career as a dancer and at the age of 25 he decides to begin his transition to dance teacher. He worked as a teacher during the period 2014-2017 in dance schools in Barcelona such as Sa Nau, Magdanza and Aules.
Finally, in 2017 he made the decision to move to Menorca, where he has worked for more than 3 years as a classical dance teacher at Alba Estudi de Dansa, in Maó, working with students between the ages of 6 and adults. , in addition to being part of the "Maghen" company, resuming his career as a professional dancer, participating in the creation and interpretation of the work "Sótano de cielo" taking it to theaters on the island of Mallorca._cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b- 136bad5cf58d_
In 2021 she decides to start her own Ballet school, MARÈS BALLET, where she can train according to all her professional and teaching experience, adding complementary disciplines that delve into the physical and mental benefits of dance. All this with the advantage of being able to take the classes en English, French, Spanish and Catalan.
